Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!

Tonight I had my parents over for dinner.  They had just come back from the lake and I was on my way to the grocery when the idea to invite them over struck me.  One point for spontaneity!  One of the fun things about spur of the moment entertaining is that nobody expects too much.  I made a simple dinner- ballpark steak sandwiches, fruit salad and chips.  I popped frozen cookie dough into the oven after dinner and with a scoop of ice cream, it was a little dessert that delighted my dad.  Frozen cookie dough is awesome to have on hand for impromptu entertaining.

It was a great way to celebrate Mother's Day too, and gave my mom relief fom having to come up with a dinner plan right after coming back into town.  And, I got to use some fun dishes we received as wedding gifts that do not get used on a daily basis. I'm trying to do better using what I have.  What's the use in having "stuff" that just sits on a shelf?

Any day is a great day to celebrate family.  Today, whether you are mom to a 2-legged or 4-legged "kid"...celebrate yourself and your family!

Until next time...

Cards Cards Cards

I've been absent for awhile- but the good news is that my new business website is up and running (rederlm.com) and business cards are in hand!

Now I'm busy making custom greeting cards to fill an order from La Barista in Detroit Lakes.  They'll be selling both my hand-made cards and photo cards.  Following are some of my hand-made designs.  If you are intersted in buying a set of custom-made cards so that you're set for the full year of occassions, conact me!

Little Celebrations

As I mentioned, I like to celebrate the little things. And, I will admit, I am a geek about remembering some obscure dates. Like the date I met my husband, Brad.

July 17, 2004. We were introduced by a mutual friend at a softball tournament (Brad was playing; I went for the introduction since my co-worker thought it so imperative that I meet this guy). A year and a half later we were married and my life has been better than I ever imagined it could be since I met Brad that hot, sunny, Saturday morning.

So here we are, back to Saturday, July 17, six years later. Brad is playing in that same softball tournament again. It was ungodly hot and humid today (and I do not enjoy heat), but I was there to cheer him on. They finished for the day just as the storm clouds rolled in. We went to one of our favorite local joints for pizza, and now we’re home, huddled in the basement and glued to the weather on television as more storms/tornadoes roll across the state. Awww…how romantic.

It wasn’t a big celebration, but today we recognized an important moment in our lives. And sometimes, recognition is celebration enough.

What’s the next date that YOU will celebrate?

Until next time….
